Dr. Alejandro Nieponice is currently the director of the Esophageal Institute at Hospital Universitario Fundación Favaloro in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He is also a faculty member of the McGowan Institute for Regenerative Medicine and adjunct research assistant professor of the department of surgery at University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Nieponice has pioneered the treatment of esophageal reflux with electrical stimulation of lower esophageal sphincter becoming the first surgeon worldwide to treat successfully a patient with reflux after a sleeve gastrectomy. He has also developed a program of interventional endoscopy for the treatment of early esophageal cancer and achalasia. Dr. Nieponice’s main goal is to foster clinical translation of novel tissue engineering and minimally invasive approaches by bridging his surgical and research background.

Dr. Douglas Faigel is the Co-director of the World Endoscopy Organization Program for Endoscopic Teachers. He is Professor of Medicine and Chairman of the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the Mayo Clinic Arizona. He served as President of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy from 2015 to 2016. He was educated at Harvard University and received his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania before completing training in Internal Medicine at the University of California San Francisco and Fellowships in Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Advanced Endoscopy at the University of Pennsylvania. He was previously Professor of Medicine and Director of Endoscopy at Oregon Health and Science University before joining the Mayo Clinic in 2010.

Edward John Despott is the Lead of Endoscopy Services and Honorary Associate Professor at the Royal Free Unit for Endoscopy, Royal Free NHS Foundation Trust and University College London (Institute for Liver and Digestive Health) (Hampstead campus) in London. He is a consultant gastroenterologist and interventional endoscopist whose specialist interests include device assisted enteroscopy (double-balloon enteroscopy (DBE) in particular), capsule endoscopy (CE) and therapeutic colonoscopy (mainly wide-field EMR and ESD). He is also interested in transnasal upper GI endoscopy and in the diagnosis and management of inflammatory bowel disease and related complications (such as endoscopic management of small bowel and colonic strictures). He instigated significant advances at the Royal Free Unit for Endoscopy by making it one of the only 2 centres in London (and one of a handful in the UK) to offer a comprehensive small bowel endoscopy service, now one of the busiest in Europe.

His expertise is recognised and he is regularly invited to speak at national and international meetings and forms part of several international steering committees (including the European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ESGE) guidelines committee for small bowel endoscopy and the World Endoscopy Organisation (WEO) committees for education and standards of practice. Dr Despott maintains an interest in endoscopic research; he is well published (peer-reviewed papers, several book chapters and review articles) and regularly acts as a referee for scientific journals of high impact. His group's work is also regularly accepted for oral presentation at national and international conferences and he is regularly invited to form part of the faculty at the United European Gastroenterology (UEG) week. He also maintains an active interest in endoscopy education and teaches on several hands-on endoscopy courses, forms part of the faculty of the ‘European Capsule Endoscopy Course’ and is a co-director of the successful Royal Free International Advanced Endoscopy Masterclass (AEM), held annually in central London. His other interests include oil painting and deep sea fishing.

Professor Dr. Evelien Dekker is a board-qualified gastroenterologist working at the Department of Gastroenterology & Hepatology of the Amsterdam University Medical Centers (location AMC) at the University of Amsterdam. She graduated from the same university, and obtained her PhD in 1996. She received her training in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology at the AMC and the OLVG-hospital in Amsterdam. Dr Dekker joined the AMC-staff in 2005 as a head of the multidisciplinary clinic for hereditary colorectal cancer. She currently is medical director of an expert colonoscopy center at the AMC. She is actively involved in the national screening program for colorectal cancer since more than 10 years, for which she has been awarded a honourable “Pearl” by ZonMW. Her research focuses on quality and new techniques in colonoscopy, population screening for colorectal cancer and familial cancer and polyposis syndromes. She was appointed as a professor in GI Oncology at the University of Amsterdam in 2013, has supervised 25 students for a PhD-thesis, and has been an examiner for PhD candidates over 20 times (for most universities in the Netherlands). She has co-authored over 300 scientific articles and has chaired and participated in several national and international guidelines.

Doctor Evgeny D. Fedorov is Professor of the Department of Abdominal Surgery, Gastroenterology and Digestive Endoscopy at the N.I.Pirogov’s Russian National Research Medical University (RNRMU) and Clinical Head of the Department of Endoscopy & Endoscopic Surgery at Moscow University Hospital No. 31. He is the advisor to the Scientific and Practical Council of the Ministry of Health of Russia; the current Vice-President of the Russian Endoscopy Society and a member of several international committees and scientific societies.
Prof. Fedorov received his medical degree from the Pirogov’s State Medical Institute in 1981. He completed his surgical and endoscopy residencies at Moscow University Hospital No. 31 and received diplomas in surgery and digestive endoscopy (specialist distinction) from the Russian medical board.
In 2007, Prof. Fedorov organized and took the lead on the Elective Endoscopy Course and the Endoscopy Training Center. His professional achievements include: receiving the distinction of RNRMU four times for the best scientific research, becoming a Laureate of Moscow’s Mayor Prize for Series of Scientific Works; being conferred the rank of “excellent worker of public health” from the Russian Government; receiving the WEO Gold commemorative medal ENDO-2017 and Nominal gold medal No. 24 of the Russian Endoscopic Society "For outstanding contribution to the development of endoscopy in Russia".
Prof. Fedorov has published more than 180 scientific articles and several books in the area of endoscopy and is a consultant and reviewer for several surgical, gastroenterology and endoscopy journals.
Prof. Fedorov’s principal research interests include enteroscopy and colonoscopy clinical intervention trials; evaluation of artificial intelligence in diagnostic endoscopy; development of new interventional endoscopic methods (ESD; POEM; STER); and clinical utility of therapeutic endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP).

Hironori Yamamoto is the Chairman and Professor of the Department of Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology at Jichi Medical University, Tochigi, Japan. He also serves as the Director of the Gastroenterology Center and the Endoscopy Center of Jichi Medical University Hospital. He is a deputy editor in chief of Digestive Endoscopy, the official Journal of the Japan Gastroenterological Endoscopy Society. He is the inventor of double-balloon endoscopy and also the pioneer of ESD using sodium hyaluronate.

Dr. Tajiri is currently Professor in the Department of Innovative Interventional Endoscopy Research at the Jikei University School of Medicine, Tokyo, Japan. He has worked scientifically in the fields of various new endoscopic diagnosis and treatment for the GI malignancies. Dr. Tajiri has published more than 300 peer-reviewed articles and written numerous book chapters. He has been in the position of President of JGES since 2013 and President of the Japanese Association for Capsule Endoscopy since 2016. In addition, he has been active as Vice President of Asian Pacific Society for Digestive Endoscopy (APSDE). Dr. Tajiri has been awarded several times for his distinguished research achievements, and received Honorary Membership Award from ASGE in 2007, Princess Takamatsu Cancer Research Fund Prize in 2010, International Service Award from SIED (Sociedad InterAmericana de Endoscopia Digestiva) in 2016 and also awarded to ESGE Honorary Membership in 2016. He received Crystal Award (International Service Award) from ASGE in May, 2017.

Past President of World Endoscopy Organization. He graduated from Kurnool Medical College obtaining internal medicine, Masters in Madras Medical College and D.M in Gastroenterology from PGIMER, Chandigarh. He subsequently worked as a Professor of Gastroenterology in Andhra Pradesh Health Sciences before setting up Asian Institute of Gastroenterology, a tertiary care Gastro intestinal Specialties Hospital. His main area of research interest has been in G.I. Endoscopy particularly in Therapeutic Pancreatio Biliary Endoscopy and Innovations in Transgastric Endoscopic Surgery. He has published over 560 papers in National & International Peer review journals and has contributed chapters in 10 International Text Books of Gastroenterology and has edited 3 G.I. Endoscopy Text Books. He is on the Editorial Board of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, Digestive Endoscopy, World Journal of Gastroenterology, World Gastroenterology News, Gastroenterology Today, Recent Patents on Medical Imaging, and Gastro-Hep.com. He is the peer reviewer of the Journals like Lancet, Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, Endoscopy, World Journal of Gastroenterology, Journal of Gastroenterology & Hepatology and Indian Journal of Gastroenterology. He was the President of Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy of India in 2001. He has been a visiting faculty for over 200 international endoscopy workshops and forum member of Asian Endoscopy Masters Forum. He has been recognized for his achievements by several societies. He received the B C Roy Award from the Indian Medical Council in 1995. He received PADMA SHRI AWARD from Government of India in 2002. He has been elected as honorary member for American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy in 2004, Fellow of National Academy of Medical Sciences, New Delhi in 2001, Fellow of Philippines Society of Gastroenterology in 2001, Fellow of Royal College of Physicians of Ireland in 2003, and is a recipient of Honorary Doctor in Sciences (D.S.C) from Nagarjuna University in 2005. Associate Professor Endoscopy Unit Department of Gastroenterology/Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile Dr Robinson González attended medical school and fellowship in Internal Medicine at the University of Chile and fellowship in Gastroenterology at Pontificia Universidad Católica of Chile. He completed his clinical and research fellowship in Technische Universität Múnchen (TUM). Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) at TUM and Hospital de Asturias, Spain. His main practice areas are in Helicobacter pylori, Preneoplastic Lesions and Gastric Cáncer (Early Detection and EUS), and general gastroenterology. He has also a special interest in endoscopic quality and medical education. Dr González is now Chairman of Chilean association of Chilean Endoscopy and Vice Chairman of Chilean Society of Gastroenterology. He is Chairman and Founder of Chilean Program of Gastric Cancer Initiatives. He currently co-chairs stomach committee of World Endoscopy Organization.

Dr. Yutaka Saito is the Director of the Endoscopy Division at the National Cancer Center Hospital, Tokyo, Japan. He also has served as an attending Professor of Gastroenterology at Tokyo Medical University since April 2017. Dr. Saito is licensed as a Board certified fellow of the Japanese Society of Gastroenterology, the Japan Gastroenterological Endoscopy Society, the Japanese Society of Internal Medicine and the Japanese Gastroenterological Association and fellow of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. He is also certified as a Foreign Trainee Doctor Clinical Instructor and has served as one of the Editors of the World Journal of Gastroenterology since 2007 in addition to being a member of the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. Dr. Saito has been invited to perform as a faculty member and live demonstrator in numerous countries. He was honored for an invited professor at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota and Jacksonville, Florida in 2010, and at Arizona in 2016. He was also commended for Basil Hirschowitz Master Endoscopist Award for advancing the art and science of endoscopy throughout the world in 2013 and Certificate of appreciation of Outstanding Reviewer for GIE: Gastrointestinal Endoscopy 2015-2017. He is now one of the members of International Editorial Board of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. He has a wide spectrum of research exposure and interests including 1. Chromo-magnification Colonoscopy; 2. Endoscopic Mucosal Resection and Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection for early gastrointestinal cancer and 3. Colon capsule endoscopy
